Progress How Novel 57

 After I finish my current WIPs, I'm going to concentrate on the Ghostwolf and Elemental Voice series. I need to finish a series and promote the he!! out of it. I have 14 books out yet not one series completed. So I'm going to focus on Ghostwolf and Elemental Voice as they are almost finished. I have 2 books in both series that need to be finished to be complete. A complete series under each of my author names.

I published a box set of the first 3 books of Elemental Voice. Book 4 should be out in January. So that means I'm still writing on Book 4 of Elemental Voice and Book 1 of The Bone Whisperer right now with a bit of Book 3 of Ghostwolf thrown in here and there. 

In Elemental Voice, the FMC reads the earth like a medium hears the dead and finds buried items--mostly dead bodies--for the local sheriff's office at the beginning in a world where psychics work regularly with law enforcement and vampires live next door. In later books she works with her vampire FBI agent fiance and his partner. If you're interested in checking out these older Elemental UF Books.

In Ghostwolf  the MMC sees the evil humans do to one another every day as a Homicide detective and hates the necessity of his job. But this murder—it raises his hackles. What he uncovers is far more than a pathological motive, it's like something out of a horror movie or a Grimm's fairy tale. Everything points to a supernatural being, a werewolf, as the killer, causing him to doubt himself—and his mysterious new partner. Progress How Novel 96

I published my first book seven years ago at the age of 46. I have fifteen stories out now which averages out about 2 a year, though in reality some years I only got one out. I had thought to get my Elemental Voice series done and out by the time I was 50. Didn't make that. Lots of things contributed to that. Things that I'm not going to get into. But I'm on my way to finishing that series. I promised I would and I'm going to do it though it's not on my top things to do anymore.

And yes the series name has changed for the new series. I did a search on Amazon and was bombarded by books with Bone Witch either as the title or as the series name. Also witch didn't really fit what she does. Nor does psychic really. My writing coach asked if Bone Whisperer might match better. 

However as I've said before my muse is fickle.  Who knows what she will do. But after EV and Ghostwolf I'm going to take stock. I want to finish the books I started under Tina so I can concentrate more on the new ideas that keep coming up.

Progress How Novel 95

The turn of the season is upon us. Prime writing time for me is coming. So is my favorite holiday.

I'm going to watch my favorite slasher movies (Friday the 13th) this month. I don't have a favorite horror book. Maybe I'll write one. Another idea for the queue.

 September is here which means Hootin An Hollarin time. September 15 & 16th I'll be at a booth in Gainesville, Mo with all 9 of my books with printed format. H-N-H is a craft festival with games, food, parades, and handmade/homemade items that Gainesville puts on with and for people from all over the US. Though most crafters are 'local'. If you're going to be in the area, stop on by and enjoy a 'down home' event.

Progress How Novel 90

 My muse dropped off a few scenes and left me with a novella to write but no help from her. And she wouldn't let me work on anything else until I finished it. I don't know how good it is but it the prequel to a series. At least I think it is. My muse is not being very forth coming about this one. Progress How Novel 87

 The deadline for The Elemental Detective is coming up fast. I'm still not quite done. The final confrontation is coming up though. This is definitely a prequel novella to a series.

I've had 3 sales and quite a few page reads for Book 2 of Ghostwolf as well as some reads for Book 1. The reads equal about 3 and 1/2 books so that's not bad for the first week. At least I think so. I've been posting a bit on Facebook and set up Amazon category ads for Book 2.

I was in my local newspaper. May is the 7th anniversary of my first book, Earth Reader, book 1 of Elemental Voice series as well a being the publishing of my 13th book. Synergy with it also being the month with a Friday the 13th. I got a congrats flyer from my county's senator. Seems he reads our paper-- and it is election time.

Progress How Novel 86

Book 2 (The Riven) is out!

Progress How Novel 85

 The Book Goddess has worked her magic and Book 2 is formatted, cover is set, and both have been uploaded.  I ordered the proof.  So I should get it between 7 and 14 days depending on Amazon shipping.

I also ordered new business cards. They should only take 7 to 10 days.

The reason I ordered new cards is because I now have a website. It's a work-in-progress and got a ways to go but it is started and live. More about that later when it's further along.

I'm still working on The Elemental Detective novella. It's giving me hints that it wants to be bigger than it first told me it was going to be. The word count is approaching the original number I thought it would be but that idea is still percolating and the characters are saying they have more to tell.  And the new deadline is not that far away.

Progress How Novel 84

The Book Goddess got back to me and Book 2 is in the formatting queue for next week.  Meaning the book will be out soon. How soon?  Maybe that week for the ebook.

So in celebration I have decided to reveal the cover. 

The wolf of course represents the Ruv, but the Raven represents the wild card, the Shavora. And a certain Shavora at that. The Riven tells a bit of my world's history and why the Ruv became the Ruv. But the Ruv weren't the only ones riven then. However that's another story. :)

Progress How Novel 83

 I'm still working on The Elemental Detective novella.  My muse is still being cagey about the whole thing and the characters are only telling me a little at a time. Something is percolating in the back of my mind. I can feel it. But nothing is coming forward but little splurts at a time.

And I still don't have the blurb done for it. The cover's been done forever, but I just can't seem to do the blurb. 

The Book Goddess hasn't gotten back to me yet. So Book 2 of Ghostwolf is still being edited/proofread.

Book 2 tells a bit of their history and why they became the Ruv. This series could also be termed alternate universe or multiverse, I suppose, with the history I have given and will give in these books. But this is what the characters are telling me. And what do we know of the real creation of this planet, much less the universe?

Progress How Novel 82

I have changed up this blog a bit. It's my main blog so I decided to have it reflect that more. The Pages section will still have mostly Ghostwolf extras and the other blogs will still be up. I just won't update them until I'm working on their series' books. So right now this blog and the elemental blog are being regularly updated.

TaLeRy is my fanfic pen name from long ago. Some of that fanfic is probably still floating around though I removed some of it. I wrote original stories too, but never put them up. A few of them are merged with some of my stories I'm writing now. 

The exact date for Book 2 of Ghostwolf to be published is up to the book gods--or goddess in this case--now. It's being edited/proofread and scheduled to be out by the second week of May.

 Book 2 is finished!

The Ghostwolf Series has an overall arc and the arc in each book moves it closer to the reveal at the end.  Book 1 is the prequel, the intro, and this book starts the main arc fully. 

As soon as it is edited/proofread it will be published and you'll get to read the next venture into the Del Mulanti Ruv's world.  The time table is up to the book gods--or goddess in this case--now.

 With the renewed interest in my older Elemental Voice series I decided to do either Book 4 (wind whisperer) or Book 3 of the companion series (Deadly Waters) after I finish Book 2 of Ghostwolf. Maybe both of them. :) Though probably not. I want to get the Ghostwolf series out.

In little over a month (or maybe 2 😏 ) you'll get to read the next venture into the Del Mulanti Ruv's world. Progress How Novel 78

Working on the confrontation. 

And there is a surprise. 

Catching the criminal is not always the end. There is sometimes other things that need to be completed and looked into before all is done. Something dismissed before suddenly shows in a different light. Little things suddenly take on new meaning. 

The characters are whispering to me.

And the idea is still percolating!

Progress How Novel 77

 Received the small batch of books for the Conference with the new covers. Gonna order another small batch next month. My disposable income isn't. I'll only have a small amount of each book, but I'll be able to pass out my cards to everyone.  

I'm working on four books right now, Book 2 and 3 elementals. The elemental ones forced their way in in my bout of writer's block. And they keep giving me flashes. One is Deadly Waters, the third book in the Elemental Voice Companion Series. The other two are new novellas, The Elemental Detective and The Null Agent. 

But Book 2 is my priority.  The Ghostwolf Series is at the top of my queue.

Now on another note:

Everyone celebrates St. Patty's Day, but March 17 is also The Feast of St. Gertrude, patron saint of Cats. I wear the green for St. Patty, but I also celebrate my cat. Not just on this day but every day I'm graced with her presence.

Progress How Novel 76

I don't do resolutions. They rarely last past February--for anyone. I do however set little goals that I want done through out the year. This year most of them were about my books as I found personal ones definitely don't last with me. There's always an excuse. But with my books I don't let myself slack off so much.  Two are done and I'm working on the rest.

Mainly finishing and publishing Book 2 of Ghostwolf. That is the big little goal I set myself this year. 

I have slacken off with marketing though. My Amazon ads are still running but I haven't made any new ones or really pushed these books on social media. I am pushing my old Urban Fantasy Series though as that was part of one of my goals. When Book 2 is live, I will do a big push of both Book 1 and Book 2. Meanwhile I'll concentrate on my writing.

Progress How Novel 75

 Three and a half months till Between the Pages Writers Conference in Springfield, Missouri at the Double Tree Hilton. You can find their info here BTP Con

I'm going to have a table there. June 17, 18, and 19th. Going to have my new book The Dragon's Keeper as well as my other books, including my Elemental Voice books with their new covers.  I'd like to have Book 2 of Ghostwolf but I don't think that's happening. However I get to network with other writers and learn new things. If you want to meet some Indie writers (and maybe a few Trad) come and have a fun experience learning writing.

I'm also doing two local festivals this year. They are open and free to the public. I did them last year and plan to do them again. More about them later closer to time. Unless you want to look the one up on here under September of last year in the blog archive.

Progress How Novel 74

 Bit of the idea slipped into the story but most of it is still percolating. Not telling me much just that I need this bit here for later. I got the gist of what the idea is and I think it will be good, though a lot of it won't be revealed in this book. Just the beginning. 

I'm a pantser. But I do do book bibles so I guess plantser is a better term. I write the book idea, character names, the plot, and scenes down in the bible. However I don't outline anything. I just go with the flow. Tangents come to me while I write. Sometimes I follow them, other times I don't. The percolation is the thing. Hard to explain. But it's the deciding factor.

Book 1 is really a prequel of the series, setting up things for Book 2. All the main characters are finally present in Book 2. Meet the MCs

Progress How Novel 73

 A tangent is percolating. 

I hate that because it slows down my writing, but I also love it because sometimes it brings a good injection. We shall see if this is one of those times. 

I have tentative covers  for books 2 through 4. They're kind of a bit moody, dark. And no nakkid chests to be seen. They are Urban Fantasy, not romance. That doesn't mean there isn't relationships. There are. But these books are not as I said romances. There is no HEA, but there is HFN.

 Changed the one blog for my Elemental books and added it to this blog's blog list. 

While I consider this my main blog, it is also the blog for my Ghostwolf Series. The Elemental blog is going to be the blog for both my Elemental books and for any books I put out under Tina Riffey.  I have extras on this blog under Pages and I plan to do that with the Elemental blog. Progress How Novel 70

 Still working on Book 2 (The Riven) and the Urban Fantasy short (The Elemental Detective). Hopping between the two. Not writing a lot at one setting but the stories are moving along. With the extended deadline I don't have to stress if  I don't write more than a few words. They will be done before the deadline and I'll be deep into Book 3 by then.

Decided to publish the UF short under Tina instead of T.L. as it's another version of the Elemental bit. 

I also changed up my one blog to be for the Elemental books. I got blogs for my T.L. books so I can dedicate a blog to the Elemental books. 

I read this when I feel discouraged.  All writers want this, well I shouldn't generalize, but a lot of writers do. We want someone to love the worlds we create. Someone to share it with.

Progress How Novel 69

 Thinking about changing the covers on my old Elemental Voice books. While I love my old covers they're not to market. Though the new ones aren't as much either since they're not sexualized, i.e. no nakkid people or chests.  They're more toward murder mystery covers than Urban Fantasy but then the stories do have murders and FBI agents. 

I may change the sales page as well. At least for the first one. 

Still working on Book 2 (The Riven) and the Urban Fantasy short (The Elemental Detective).  Deadline has been extended as my publisher is booked up until May. Should have them both done and started on Book 3 by then.

Registered for Between The Pages Con in June. Have reserved a hotel room for that weekend. Need to stock up on books for the table.  Their FB page is here.

Progress How Novel 68

 Still working on Book 2 of Ghostwolf  and the one Urban Fantasy short. 

Also working on a blurb for the UF short as well  as a hook. The UF short may be done long before Book 2. Book 2 is moving along slowly and I may have done a info dump. The info is needed to understand stuff happening but may be too much. Don't know. I'll find out when it gets read. If the reader/beta says something I'll know and rework. 

The UF short may be the one published in February for my birthday present.  Or maybe not. My publisher is booked up until May/June I just heard (1/24/22). So...

Here's what I got so far on the UF short blurb:

Calli Finn is an Elemental. A fact that would get her killed if known. In a world full of werewolves, vampires, and immortals anything smacking of  'witchcraft' still genders fear. Surrounded by these Others in her job as a detective in the SCD, which handles crimes committed by or on them , she walks a fine line.

Progress How Novel 67

 Been working on Book 2 and the one Urban Fantasy short. 

The short is almost done. Just a bit more and it will be finished. Then I'll spell check and add a bit of back matter before sending it off to Sharon for proofreading. Still got to do the blurb, but I have the cover done.

Added another 1,565 words this last week to Book 2. I need to get on the ball and get it finished if I want it published by February.  Still haven't got a hook yet. The blurb and cover are ready and some back matter.

Progress How Novel 66

 

As I've said I looked at the books in my writing queue. I had planned to write all the book 2s, then move on to all the book 3s. However, I had a talk with my writing coach and we decided I should concentrate on one series at a time.

Ghostwolf won the luck of the draw. 

So Book 2 (The Riven), Book 3 (Remnant) , and Book 4 (Revenant) are first in the queue. I'm already working on Book 2 which makes the drawing of Ghostwolf fortuitous.

I have tentative covers for these three and a blurb for Book 2. I need to do hooks for Book 2 to capture readers' attention. So still got that to do yet. 

And Book 4 of my Elemental Voice series is still on my mind as well. I want to finish that series even though it's in the Hiatus pile. I might slip that in as my writer's block book after I finish Book 2 of Ghostwolf.

Also still working on the two shorts. I want to get them done this year as well so they get out of my mind.  They're my writer's block books right now while I write Book 2. 

Sooo much on my mind and plate right now. 

Progress How Novel 65

 Still flirting between Book 2, the two shorts, and the next Fallborn book. 

Added another entry to my TBR list review blog. As I've said if I'm not writing, I'm reading. Check it out here Novel Reads

I looked over my queue. I have a lot of books in it. Two more books in the Ghostwolf series, three more Time-Lost books, three more Fallborn, two Alliance books, and the two Song Saga stories. That's not counting the shorts that pop up regularly. Plus the three from my old Elemental Voice series at the end of the others. 'To be Decided' is under the EV.  

I have several serial book ideas beside the above. However I think those are quite enough for right now.

I write a little every day. I wish I could just put out thousands of words a day, but that's not how it happens. And that's okay. I do get frustrated sometimes, don't we all, and that's okay too. We each write differently. We are not in a contest and we should not judge ourselves by others. Writing is a personal thing, your reason for writing is not the same as another's.  Though we'd like some of the same things :)

It may take me a while but I plan to finish the books I have in my queue before diving into the many other stories I have.  Please be patient. It's a virtue, you know.
